Viskamol Chaiwanichsiri

The winner of Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra: Call for Score 2018, awarded by the Ministry of Education: Royal Student Award in 2017, the winner of 2016 Young Thai Artist Award, Viskamol Chaiwanichsiri has enjoyed a varied experience as conductor, music educator, composer, and arranger.

Mr. Chaiwanichsiri's music has been performed in Asia, America, and Europe by various ensembles. Recent performances include Scherzo for Siam Saxophone Quartet (performed in Croatia); arrangement of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (performed in the United States by St. Gabriel School); Voices of the King for large wind ensemble and choir commissioned by Mahidol Symphonic Band in honour of the 69th anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s coronation; Adventure for percussion trio commissioned by Paopun Amnatham (Thailand Yamaha Artist); Shadow for saxophone ensemble was selected to be performed by the Salaya Saxophone Ensemble in Strasbourg, France as a part of the 2015 World Saxophone Congress.

In addition to composing, Mr. Chaiwanichsiri is also active as a conductor. He began his conducting studies with Ms. Pamornpan Komolpamorn. During his study, he conducted Mahidol Wind Orchestra, Mahidol Symphonic Band, Mahidol Contemporary Music Ensemble and many chamber ensembles. He has appeared as a guest conductor with the Yala City Municipality Youth Orchestra since 2016, Saint Gabriel's College Symphonic Band, Siam Huqin Orchestra and Tacet(i) Contemporary Ensemble. He is the founder and director of We Wind Community Orchestra, community wind orchestra based in Bangkok and currently serves as a choir director (for Men’s Choir and Pre-College Choir) at the College of Music, Mahidol University.

Mr. Chaiwanichsiri began his music lessons with Mr. Panlop Jeepsuwan at Udomsuksa School. He also had piano lessons from Ms. Sukanya Techawaro and studied music theory and composition with Dr. Woraket Tagosa. He received his bachelor’s degree in composition from College of Music, Mahidol University where his primary teacher was Valeriy Rizayev. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in conducting with Dr. Thanapol Setabrahmana at the College of Music, Mahidol University.
